Dr William E.M. Lands

Prof. MA CrawfordDr William E.M. (Bill) Lands is an American nutritional biochemist and one of the wo rld's foremost authorities on essential fatty acids. He was Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Michigan (1955-80) and the University of Illinois (1980-91), and served as Senior Scientific Advisor to the Director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse & Alcoholism in the US National Institutes of Health (1990-2002). He has authored more than 250 scientific papers, was one of the world’s 1,000 most-cited scientists from 1965 to 1978 and has written extensively on the benefits of Omega-3 fish oil, including a book, Fish, Omega-3 and Human Health.
